'Devotion' explodes into a chunky grunge-soul riff at its climax, referencing Deftones and Kim Deal. 'Impurities' washes sun-dappled synth over a smoothly sauntering beat. 'Weightless' is atmospheric and free. Produced with Paul Epworth, Ariel Rechtshaid, and Romil Hemnani of Brockhampton, with a guest vocal from Phoebe Bridgers. The title comes from a line in Joanna Hogg's A24 film The Souvenir . 'we want to see life as it is experienced in this soft machine.'
