J Mascis buries melody under glorious, ear-shredding volume, his lazy drawl floating over guitar that roars and weeps. 'Feel the Pain' rides a deceptively breezy hook into a wall of fuzz, while 'I Don't Think So' crunches and soars. It's slacker rock with arena-sized squall and a soloist who never knows when to stop. Loud, melodic, and gloriously overdriven.
