Mike Cooley finally splits the writing evenly with Patterson Hood here, and "Shit Shots Count" struts in like a working man closing down the bar. "Made Up English Oceans" hammers an acoustic strum into an ominous build, while "Grand Canyon" closes on eight cathartic minutes Hood wrote for a late crew member. Their most cohesive record in years, and you feel every reason why.
