"Bull in the Heather" rides Kim Gordon's sultry, husky murmur over dark, uneasy guitars that coil tighter until they snap, while "Starfield Road" detonates in a grungy burst. After touring with Pavement and Sebadoh, the band wanted rough, spontaneous takes and nothing more. If a song wasn't nailed in a couple of passes, they moved on. "Good enough!" became the mantra, and that scrappy honesty is the whole charm. Noise and melody, living side by side.
