Mezmerize is System of a Down at their most whiplash-inducing, lurching from absurdist fury to soaring harmony in a heartbeat. 'B.Y.O.B.' detonates with an anti-war scream and a chorus that flips into pure dance-floor chaos, 'Question!' swings between tender and violent, and 'Cigaro' is two minutes of gleeful, snarling provocation. Chaotic, brilliant, and impossible to predict. Nobody else sounds like this.
