A complete acoustic re-recording of 1995's Tigerlily. Like Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now, it documents the effects of time on an artist and her material. Merchant's voice has deepened and become grainier with age, adding warmth that blends naturally with a string quartet, accordion, and saxophone replacing the original electric arrangements. 'Carnival' becomes more wistful and reflective. 'Wonder' soars with even more emotional gravity. Merchant produced it herself at The Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY, with guest vocals from David Bowie's bassist Gail Ann Dorsey.
